Daily Expenses Tracker
Track Every Shilling You Spend — Because Knowing Where Money Goes Is the First Step to Keeping It
The Daily Expenses Tracker sits right alongside the Daily Sales Tracker and together they form the most important daily habit in the Prepared Finance Book. While the sales page tells you how much came in, the expenses page shows you where it all went.
Most small business owners in Uganda know their sales but underestimate their spending. Airtime, transport, lunch, stock top-ups, rent contributions, boda fares — the small expenses pile up silently. By the end of the month, you wonder: "I sold a lot, but where did the money go?" This page answers that question — every single day.
What You Record
-
Date — Today's date
-
Expense Description — What you spent on (e.g., Transport, Airtime, Stock purchase, Rent, Food)
-
Amount — How much you spent on each item
-
Total Day Expenses — The sum of all spending for the day
How to Use It
Every time you spend money during the day — no matter how small — write it down immediately. Don't wait until evening. The sooner you record, the more accurate your records will be. At the end of the day, add up all expenses to get your Total Day Expenses.
This number feeds directly into your Daily Summary (on the sales page), where it's subtracted from your sales to calculate your Day Profit. Without tracking expenses, your profit calculation is just a guess.
